Social Inclusion & Democracy: Capacity Building of Youth

for An Active, Well-Informed, Inclusive Citizenship and Civic Engagement

A Collaborative Initiative  of Indian Social Institute (ISI), Bangalore 

The Indian Social Institute (ISI) Bangalore is jointly organising a series of training/formation programme for youth to build informed and knowledgeable leaders who will accompany and serve vulnerable and marginalised communities. This programme is a collaboration with Loyola Extension Services (LES), Cherureshmi Center and Bluepoint.org. It is based on a partnership model -- by collaborating with different local NGO’s and raising local resources.

 

The three year long programme will enable the participants to understand different aspects of vulnerable sections.  Forty (40) youth will be trained in six modules namely: 
 

• Me and My community (5th -7th August 2022)

• Democracy and Citizenship (13th - 15th January 2023)

• Peoples Entitlements (17th - 19th February, 2023)

• Understanding and Reducing Vulnerabilities (30th May - 1st June 2023)

• Women and Mother Earth

• Participation and Accountability

The first three modules have been completed with high participation and interaction of youth in Trivandrum district. Fourth module i.e Understanding and Reducing Vulnerabilities will be conducted at LES Training Hall from 30th May to 1st June, 2023. Through this training, the youth will get an awareness on issues of dalits, minorities, and understanding leaders from the vulnerable communities. The youth will be trained in methods to reduce vulnerability of marginalized sections. The training program will be inaugurated by Mr. Manoj , Fisheries Extension Officer, Trivandrum.
